(Dr. Lavrov overheard Slade's radio about the 173 breach - perfect. Just what he needed, a neck-snapping statue to worry about. 008 and 027 wasn't enough apparently. He sighed, not minding the hooded figure whom he had no knowledge of. He turned to Trex and said:)
Dr. Lavrov: "I gotta go get something. Good luck and be safe, hopefully I'll be right back."
(Lavrov began to strut to one of the labs where he and some other scientists had been experimenting with SCP-1079. It was some 4 or 5 days ago.)
flashback
Scientist: "Dr. Lavrov, good to see you! I suppose you've assigned to this project?"
Dr. Lavrov: (straightening tie) "Site Director's orders. Now, according to the brief I was supplied, your team has determined some new facts about this SCP?"
Scientist: "Yes sir! Aside from the fact that Wondertainment has discontinued the product, we also were able to move ten-seventy nine's anomalous properties!"
Dr. Lavrov: (slight surprise expression) "Really? How so?"
Scientist: "Well, we identified some unusual chemicals and ingredients and extracted it from the gum. We decided to inject it into caramels first to see if the anomalies would manifest in them. The reason why we used caramels first was... well, I had them for myself, originally."
Dr. Lavrov: "So I take it worked."
Scientist: "Yes. Just... not exactly how we expected." (Lavrov raises an eyebrow) "Allow me to demonstrate."
(The scientist takes out a handful of caramel, and proceeds to hurl them at a wall. The caramel, after making contact with the wall with considerable speed and force, expand incredibly into large bubbles which pops and cover the wall. It appears extremely sticky.)
Scientist: "We believe that these "ingredients" react and have different effects on different sweets. Didn't work with meats or fruit. We're considering mass producing these as backup grenades for MTFs and IAs."
Dr. Lavrov: "Are they lethal?"
Scientist: "Not as an explosive, but they can be lethal if ingested. Used a D-Class to see if it were edible, and the force of the jaw coming down on the caramel made it expand and eventually choked him to death."
(end of flashback)
(Lavrov was now approaching his destination, knowing they still had some in store in the lab for testing purposes. They could be well-used for defense against 173 or 027 if he encountered them. Lavrov could smell something - a reeking odor, like... rats. He hurried into the room when it was in sight, grabbed two handfuls of the caramels, and stuffed them into his pockets. Then he dashed out of the room, headed back toward Trex and company, but hid behind a wall when he heard him getting closer.)
027: (over the squealing of the rats) "Come on out, doctor. I'd like to talk to you..."
