I think its a good feature. It could keep the MTF's from spotting you while letting you see them.

Anyways, I don't think the MTFs just shouldn't notice you, its not like peeking around a corner is an invisibility cloak. They should have it so if you peek around and an MTF spots you, they say "What was that?" or something, and go to investigate, rather than shooting you on sight.
