My screen brightness and contrast are both at 100% and I can still barely see. I think a game that relies on darkness as much as this should have a brightness setting to ensure everyone gets optimal light levels.

I just turn off the fog completely. When I say turn off, I mean make the fog go far away. I set both camera fog settings to 1000.

SCP-173 curse you! I blame you for the game being so dark! Though I like the darkness, it helps the atmosphere, my monitor makes the game a LITTLE bit brighter, but it's still dark as heck.

Ya I have to agree with the OP, I understand that it's meant to create a scarier atmosphere, but it's kind of ridiculous when you can't see, or if you're going to keep this darkness add a flashlight or a lamp or something. Or some kind of scp light (I'm sure one probably exists in the 3000 scp's that exist)

I'm not sure if adjusting the brightness did anything but I changed the brightness to 200, will try switching it back to see if there was a change.

If I play the game with all my lights off with the windows closed, I'm able to see with no problem.

Why don't you give it a shot...?

My biggest problem with it is the fact that everything around me is clear as day, but everything in front of me is hidden behind a black wall.

The black fog is the problem... It creates a good darkness effect, tho it doesn't make sense at maintenance tunnels, where lights fade out and in because of the fog. The game is nicely lit imo.
